| A karter since
the age of ten, Jonathan has built up an impressive record of success in
his motorsport career so far. Notably, he won the 1999 Scottish Kart TKM
challenge when he was 15, a title previously held by Dario Franchitti, David
Coulthard and Alan McNish. In 2002 he finished 5th overall in the British Kart Championship (100 National) and went on to win the "Summerlee" championship at Larkhall. Moving to single seaters, during 2003 he turned in fine performances in Formula Ford Zetec as well as some gutsy drives in Formula Renault. He won the 2003 Formula Ford Zetec Newcomers Cup and finished 3rd overall in the main championship. Jonathan competed in the Renault Clio Cup in 2004, finishing a very creditable third in the championship. He then went on to win the Renault Clio Winter Cup. In 2005, Jonathan dominated the Renault Clio Cup and was an impressive winner in only his second season in the championship. Jonathan moved up to the Seat Cupra Championship in 2006, and finished an impressive 3rd place in the championship in his first year in the highly competitive series. Jonathan dominated the 2007 Seat Cupra Championship showing impressive consistency throughout the season, he won the championship by a massive 98 points, winning 9 races and recording 17 podiums from 20 starts, setting 9 fastest laps on his way to the title. In 2008, Jonathan became the first driver to win the Seat Cupra Championship twice, after a bad start to the season Jonathan overhauled all his rivals to snatch victory in the championship in the last round at Brands Hatch. |
